What is Baptism?
Posted on February 25, 2007 in the category
Baptism is performed on thousands of people each year as people profess to be Christians and live a Christian lifestyle. Some are baptized babies, others young adults who have joined the church of their choice—and others, adult converts reached by missionaries.
In my church, the baptismal ceremony is formal and it is relatively quick. Holy water is used to baptize children, usually before six months of age. The children are usually dressed in white outfits and the girls where long flowing gowns.
This ceremony is attended by family members and friends. Many baptismal ceremonies are followed by a party or a get together to celebrate the event. Many people send invitations to the baptism and the following celebration.
