9 Tips for Effective Planning

Do you ever feel like time is passing by and you are getting nothing accomplished? Many times the reason for this is poor planning. The reason things should be planned is so that you have clear idea of where you are going. This plan should be daily as well as long term. You will find that if you formulate a plan or path to a destination, it will be easier to get to that destination.
The following tips will help you get your life organized and reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed:
1. Commit to a daily and a weekly plan of action. Each week, usually on Sunday, I take time to map out where I want to be by the end of the upcoming week. Then I work backwards and access what I need to accomplish each day to reach my daily goal and make a list of what tasks need to be completed daily. I may not get everything completed as planned, but I get a closer than if I had no plan at all.
2. Sort through all your work sources and consolidate any stray items. Prioritize how you will handle these tasks and any other pending tasks and make them part of your weekly plan.
3. Allow time for unplanned tasks that may arise.
4. Identify long-term objectives. Think about where you want your business or life to be in the future and what you have to do to get it to that point. Put your goals and timeline for accomplishing them in writing. They are more permanent that way.
5. Create a file for each goal.
6. Develop a plan for achieving each goal.
7. Write a plan with the steps required to accomplish your strategies.
8. Take some time to think about what is really important to you. At the end of your life, what do you hope to have accomplished with your time on earth. Identify what your purpose is for life.
9. Recognize the current goals that will contribute to you attaining you life goals.
Planning is not as hard as it may seem. It is part of my life that enjoy. I like seeing where I can be if I take the time to map out a path to get to my destination. I know highly successful people that plan everything, including time with their family. I believe that planning is a big part of why they are successful. Planning is something that can be used in all aspects of your life and to help you get through life itself. You will find your life will be much more organized and stress-free if you just take the time to think about the best and most efficient way of getting to the finish line.
